2021/2022 Hockey Season Protocols
Submitted By Brad Eveniss on Saturday, September 25, 2021
It’s almost October 15th which means we are only weeks away from hitting the ice for the first time this season!

With so much information published by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), the Government of Ontario, and the City of Oshawa, we wanted to provide you with an overview of the protocols for the 2021/2022 season.

Vaccine Policy

It has been mandated by the OMHA that the following groups are fully vaccinated to participate in the 2021/2022 season.  Fully vaccinated is defined as fourteen (14) days after an individual has received a completed series of an approved COVID-19 vaccine.  This must be done by October 31, 2021.

  • Players born in 2009 or earlier
  • Team Officials (Coaches, Trainers and Managers, etc.)
  • Game Officials (referees, linespersons, timekeepers, etc.)
  • Association Officials (minor hockey association directors, officers, executive and staff)
  • OMHA Officials (directors, officers, executive and staff, including hockey development personnel)
  • Volunteers
  • Instructors (third parties engaged by Associations or Teams to provide specialized instruction (e.g., power skating, goaltending coaching)

The OMHA Policy can be found here.

While spectators are not included in the OMHA vaccine policy, the Government of Ontario has mandated that all arena patrons 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination along with identification on each visit.

The OCHL will record proof of vaccination. However, we will not keep any medical records or vaccination receipts on file.

Arena Protocols

The City of Oshawa’s arena protocols include:

  • All participants must complete the City of Oshawa’s screening form within 60 minutes of entering the        arena  https://frm-cvd-ca.esolg.ca/Oshawa/Screening-Form
  • Proof of completion will need to be shown to City of Oshawa staff upon entering the building
  • 2 spectators per player
  • Dressing rooms will be available
  • Participants may not enter the arena more than 20 minutes before their scheduled ice times
  • Masks must be worn at all times (unless on the ice)

Please find the full list of protocols here

Because policies and protocols are updated as the state of COVID-19 evolves, we will ensure that you receive updated information as quickly as possible.

If you do have any questions regarding the protocols, please reach out to our COVID-19 officer at [email protected]
