All OCHL Rostered team officials must hold the required OMHA certifications; including Gender Identity and Expression course, Respect in Sport Activity Leader program and submit Vulnerable Sector, Criminal Reference check issued within the last two years to OCHL.

Gender Identity and Expression


The OHF requires all team officials to complete Gender Identity and Expression. There is no cost associated with this course.

Two required steps:

If needed, register for an eHockey account, visit Hockey Canada to sign up for an eHockey account.

Once your account has been established the course modules can be completed online. Please visit the OHF for more information on the training and to register for the course.

Respect In Sport: Activity Leader Program

-       16 years or older

-       Does not expire

-       Takes approx. 3hrs to complete online

-       Cost is $30

-       Can be completed online at

Criminal Reference, Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)

-       Can be obtained from the DRPS, require two pieces of government issued ID (one with photo). You can now apply online on the DRPS website

-       The cost is partially subsidized with a letter from OCHL, please contact [email protected] to obtain a copy of this letter. 

-       If required, coaches are asked to bring the original to be verified .

-       As a reminder, VSC’s are valid for a period of 2 years, and are only valid for ages 18 and up. 

Bench Composition:
All teams must have a minimum of two and a maximum of five rostered bench staff members.  Team Managers are responsible for ensuring all the necessary documentation is sent to OCHL. Teams will only receive an approved OMHA roster when all these requirements have been met. 

Bench Composition: House League 
All House League teams must include a certified Head Coach and Registered Trainer (HTCP). The minimum requirement for House League A
ssistant Coaches is the completion Respect in Sport Activity Leader Program and a Criminal Reference, Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). HOWEVER if the Assistant Coach participates with the team outside of the OCHL House League program or must act as the Head Coach at any point throughout the season, they will require full NCCP coach certification.

The Locker is the Coaching Association of Canada’s online database. Access to The Locker will provide all coaches with the opportunity to track their progress and guide their development.

-   Coaches can create a log-in and access their Profile and Transcript online -where they can can view/update personal information, coaching records and access printable transcripts.

- Certification Maintenance & Professional Development points will be tracked on the Coach's Transcript in "The Locker" and will update the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) Profile when "Certified" status is renewed.
