The OCHL is excited to introduce, in collaboration with the NHL, NHLPA and the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Learn to Play program for the 2018-2019 season.

The Learn to Play initiative was developed to offer more families a chance to experience everything that youth hockey offers.

As one of only 15 programs in Ontario, the OCHL and Learn to Play will offer new players a fun, barrier-free opportunity to play hockey with free head-to-toe equipment and unique development programming.

This program is available to first to ice players 4-9 years old. To have your player be a participant in the program please register in the instructional program and email our registrar Theresa [email protected] .

NEW TEAM BALANCING PROCEDURE

Everyone must understand that the goal of House League hockey is to provide the most enjoyable experience we can for all participants. Having a positive experience does not mean you need to win every game, but we would like the teams to be as competitively balanced as possible.

The balancing process is exceptionally challenging for numerous reasons including the un-even progression in skill level especially in younger players, the beneficial effects of the additional skating and competitive games for players who are part of the select program, the wide range of abilities of various players in the goal tending position and the participation in additional skill level programs by some house league players.
